Kenyans are still in shock and the internet is currently in disbelief after learning about the current situation the former rugby player who transitioned into playing American football is currently going through. It’s alleged he has reached a point of “enlightenment”.
The former NFL(National Football League) player in question is none other than Daniel Ojambo Adongo who became the first Kenyan EVER to play the National Football League in history and the youngest one at that.
Daniel Adongo was somewhat like a god and everybody once looked up to him, to this very day as well because he once did the impossible and made Kenya proud. He was the greatest Kenyan athlete export, ever.
“He[Daniel Odongo] is not only an elite athlete and rising international rugby player, but he is an exceptional competitor and human being that has the right makeup for our sport,” Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson said in a statement released by the team back in 2013. “We all look forward to watching his growth and development in the ensuing weeks.”
Daniel Adongo had a $1,110,000 million contract with Indianapolis Colts where he used to wear jersey number 56 prior to getting waived.
There are videos currently making rounds on social media about the current state of Daniel Adongo who used to play for the Indianapolis Colts as an outside linebacker until 2015 where he stopped playing for the NFL team.
Daniel Adongo shared a clip of himself smoking marijuana with a pierced nose wearing multiple chains while listening to hip hop music on his Facebook page. The look has left millions of people in Kenya heartbroken.
It’s alleged that the former NFL athlete who was once not only the pride of Kenya but the entire African continent is alleged to be in unexplainable enlightened place and a lot of his posts on his official Facebook account prove there’s some truth to this assessment. He seemed to have found some sort of spirituality awakeness which he has publicly embraced.
Ever since he was waived by Indianapolis Colts back in 2015, Daniel Adongo fell under the radar not to be heard since.
Daniel Adongo’s downfall started back in 2015 after a criminal investigation was opened against him for potential domestic violence which caused the linebacker his playing time leaving his team with no other option than to waive him.
According to IndyStar, on October 24, 2015, a woman told police that she was afraid of Adongo and did not want him to return to his residence but “was not forthcoming with any information in reference to these incidents,” according to the police report, then.
She indicated that arguments had occurred over the past several months in 2015. Adongo went to the Fishers Police Department while officers were speaking with the woman and said he would not stay at the home that evening and was going to end the relationship, according to the police report.
One week after the second police call on December 10, 2015, and ruled out of the match against Jacksonville.
According to the police report then, Adongo said he has an “open case” with the NFL and was limited on what he could say.
The report stated, “Adongo advised the information (the woman) provided is inaccurate and the NFL Investigators have all the information to prove that.”
On December 10, 2015, police returned to the home after Dawn Monks, who said she is a friend of the woman, told them she had received text messages from the woman reading “911” and “Help.”
Monks told police that Adongo had previously kicked open the bathroom door, grabbed the woman by the throat, and held her underwater in the bathtub, according to the report.
She said Adongo had previously punched multiple holes in the walls and damaged appliances, the woman’s car, furniture, and cell phones.

Daniel Ojambo Adongo moved to South Africa in 2007 to join the Sharks’ rugby academy and played professional rugby union in South Africa and New Zealand between 2011 and 2013.
He then converted to American football, joining the Indianapolis Colts as an outside linebacker until 2015.
Before making the mega-deal to NFL, Adongo played either as a lock or a flanker, and last played Super Rugby for the Southern Kings in the 2013 Super Rugby season.
Regardless of what’s going in his life at the moment, it doesn’t change the fact that Daniel Adongo is one of the greatest athletes Kenya has ever seen and he deserves all the accolades any other Kenyan athlete out there receives.
If he can get some assistance, there’s a way for him to redeem himself and probably play the sport once again since he is still young and he has the potential of rejuvenating his football career once more.
He proved to the whole world that a Kenyan can play NFL on a professional level and Kenya as a country will forever be grateful to him for that.
