In today’s music era, almost always songs are usually sampled by major artistes and I’d be willing to wager that your favorite musician has sampled a song or two.
Sampling a song is not an issue, what’s an issue is giving props where’s due and giving proper credits to the song, the original song that has been sampled.
Musician Vekta is actually not amused by fellow artiste who is a gospel musician, Ringtone for sampling his hit song ‘ Ntwarwara’ -that features Miggy and Babu Gee and it was at some point, favorite Kisii song by the former Prime Minister of Kenya, Raila Odinga- and not giving him credit for the intellectual work he put it on the record.
Talking to Biggest Kaka, Vekta addressed his disappointment in RIngtone who released his song dubbed ‘ Nyasae Oito’ that sampled his song that he wanted to do a remix of and he would have been happy if Ringtone would have jumped on the record come December as that was the time he wanted to release the remix of the song.
” He never consulted me, actually am releasing the remix end of December angeomba verse singekataa, he would have been part of it, am not happy about it” said Vekta who recently released a gospel single himself dubbed ‘Nyasae Bweka’ that you can have a listen to, it’s something out of the ordinary.
Ringtone has not commented on the issue whatsoever.
