In a heartbreaking announcement, Gucci Mane revealed the passing of his former protégé, rapper Enchanting, at the young age of 26.
Enchanting, whose real name was Channing Nicole Larry, reportedly died after being taken off life support due to complications from an overdose.
The news was shared by Mane on Instagram, where he posted a tribute to the late artist.
“So sad to have to say R.I.P to such a great young lady a true star we gone all miss you Chant @luvenchanting,” Mane wrote, accompanying the message with a photo of the deceased rapper.
Enchanting, who was signed to Mane’s 1017 Records in 2020, made a significant impact during her time with the label.
She appeared on three compilation albums before departing in 2023. Last year, she released her final studio album, Luv Scarred/No Luv.
A representative from Enchanting’s management team provided a statement to The Shade Room, shedding light on her recent struggles.
“She came to my house the last four days to get clean. She tried her best and I did everything I could to help her, she tried,” the rep stated. The post also referenced her apparent overdose that led to her hospitalization.
According to reports from New York radio station Hot 97, Enchanting began her musical journey at 18, facing initial challenges with her confidence.
She dedicated herself to refining her voice and spent countless hours in the studio, embracing a unique style she described as “Trap-n-Blues.”
Reflecting on her music, Enchanting once shared on her 1017 Records bio page, “Other people can relate to the things I say. I might help somebody through any situation, they can listen to me and find peace.”
Her untimely death is a significant loss to the music community, and she will be remembered for her talent, resilience, and the hope she offered through her music. Fans and fellow artists alike are mourning the loss of a promising young star who had so much more to give.
