Kenya is exponentially becoming a hip hop hub once again across Central and East African region and sooner or later we are going to be as big of an industry just the way our counterparts in South Africa are when talking hip hop and rap; both mainstream and underground.
Rap artistes like Raj and a few others in the music industry especially hip hop are the ones that are keeping the rap music alive in the country by always staying true to the genre and always putting out new music each and every moment they get an opportunity to.
Raj real name Okemwa Rajiv who also happens to be the CEO and founder of music powerhouse, Music Bank has worked with almost all the established Kenyan artistes in the game and none of the artistes he has worked with has ever said anything about him and his work ethic because he has given his all to his first love which is his music.
The ‘Obe Baba’ hit maker has worked with Stella Mwangi, Khaligraph Jones, Victoria Kimani, Wangechi, Fena Gitu, Dope-I-Mean, Alu-Vee, Kristoff, Noti Flow, and he also has proven that he is a versatile artiste by working on a project with a Shrap artiste; Boutross and Gengetone artiste; Benzema on the same record and made a hit.
All the doubters would of course talk regardless but what they won’t ever try to say is that Raj is not putting in work on his craft especially after he jumped on his project yet again dubbed ‘Bae Tuesday 2’ which is somewhat a sequel to his first ever series which saw him release record every week on Tuesday and also working on other projects.
To proof how hardworking of an artiste Raj really is, get to know that most established or upcoming artistes are always on their safe space where they seem to be comfortable enough to release one single in a month’s time and/or release another one after two or three months to follow up on their last project.
Raj on the other hand, has been consistent putting out new music ever since the year began by working on numerous projects and releasing records consistently each week without failure, working hard almost as hard as your favorite rap artistes.
If there’s anything most rappers in the country can take from Raj is his work ethic, consistency and versatility in the super challenging and competitive music industry.
As it stands now, Raj has released seventeen records in 2019 alone and he is not done yet since he is putting out music every other Tuesday for the rest of the year until he has put out all the music off his project and the fans can’t seem to get enough of the records he is putting out because each and every other record he puts out has a story, like the record he recorded for the first daughter, Ngina; it has a rather interesting backstory behind it.
Let’s agree Raj is one hundred percent talented and the Kenyan music scene is happy to have him as a bonafide rap artiste representing and flying the Kenyan flag high through music.
Don’t argue with anyone who says Raj is not the most prolific, consistent rapper Kenya has ever seen thus far especially in 2019.
He began putting out music off the ‘Bae2’ project since July 2019.
Stream the records below off ‘Bae2’ project which he will continue to release and update every other Tuesday until the year 2019 ends with the new release being ‘Pretty Gal Dem’ featuring Wakali Wao and Lofe.
