Senegalese forward Sadio Mane was sent off the pitch when Liverpool played Manchester City away at Etihad Stadium last Saturday September 9th.
Jurgen Klopp suffered heaviest defeat at Liverpool as the Reds were hammered 5-0 by Man City after they went one man down following Sadio Mane’s red card in the first half.
Mane was sent off after a collision with City keeper Ederson; the Liverpool striker kicked City’s keeper in the face while chasing a through ball.
Mane demonstrated best show of sportsmanship when he took to Instagram to issue an apology to Man City keeper who was taken off on a stretcher in the 37th minute before having scans on his jaw and cheekbone following the sickening collision.
“I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery. I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it. I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon because he is highest quality player.🙏☝️” Sadio Mane wrote on IG.
