The Keroche Breweries founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tabitha Mukami Muigai Karanja who was the 2014 CNBC-AFRICA’s African Entrepreneur and East African Entrepreneur of the year have sadly lost her daughter in an accident at home.
Tabitha who is happily married to one Joseph Karanja has lost her daughter, Tecra Muigai who is the second last born among the four children the Karanjas have.
Together with her husband, Joseph, Tabitha Karanja has four children; Edward Muigai who studies abroad, Tecra Muigai James Muigai who is the current Chairman of Keroche Breweries Limited, and the super famous daughter who is dating Tanzanian musician Ben Pol, miss Anerlisa Muigai.
Tecra allegedly slipped and fell down in the bathroom hurting her head in Lamu. She was with a man believed to be her boyfriend during the accident.
According to sources close to the boyfriend and friends in Lamu, Tecra Muigai was staying in Mombasa and Lamu where she met the boyfriend at a hotel in Lamu.
Tecra was then rushed to King Fahad Hospital in Lamu after which she was flown and admitted to a hospital in Nairobi on 23 April. Tecra sadly never woke up from the coma after the accident.

Tecra who didn’t love being in the spotlight came back to the country in the wake of the pandemic Coronavirus, COVID-19. She had been studying in the UK and Italy.

Speaking about her sister’s lack of interest in being in the spotlight earlier this year, Anerlisa Muigai opened up about her sister Tecra.
“When we walk together then she sees a lot of people, she always leaves me like somebody she doesn’t know. She just hates the spotlight and that is why I don’t post her on my page even if it’s a family photo,”

The family has since asked for privacy during this trying times they are currently going through at the moment as they begin preparing for the final send-off of Tecra.
Prior to her sudden, untimely passing that has shocked the entire nation, Tecra was the Strategy and Innovation Director at Keroche Breweries.
“The Board of Directors and Management of Keroche Breweries is deeply saddened to inform that Tecra Muigai Karanja passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 afternoon following a tragic accident.” the official statement read in part.
“Until her death, she worked as the Strategy and Innovation Director at Keroche Breweries.” it read on.
“While we mourn the loss of a remarkable young lady, we also celebrate her life and hope that it serves as an example to young people around the world to work hard to make their dreams come true and to be willing to explore and push their limits,” the statement continued, it went on to conclude; “As we begin preparations for her final send off, we ask for respect and privacy during these difficult times.
