The construction of Kampala -Entebbe Expressway started in 2012 with funding from China’s Exim Bank at a tune of nearly $450 million.
The expressway was constructed to ease traffic between Uganda’s main airport – Entebbe International Airport and the capital city Kampala.
The road is expected to be launched officially in May 2018. Chinese construction company assigned to construct the road is doing final attaches ahead of the launch.
Uganda road authority plans to charge motorists a fee which will be used to pay back the loan from China’s Exim Bank that was used to finance the construction.
