Rick Jade is the new act to take over the music scene with authority while preaching Pan Africanism in most if not all of their records.
The Duo that comprise of Priddy Ugly and Bontle Modiselle -who have been dating for over a decade now- are seriously causing ripples with their new project dubbed ‘D.N.A’ which is an acronym to Da New Africa, a project that has made us know that Priddy Ugly can fluently speak and even rap in Spanish as he sings in fluent Spanish in their hit record dubbed ‘Bonita’ off the album.
D.N.A (Da New Africa)is a musical narrative in the form of a digital album as compiled by Rick Jade. Rick Jade is coined from Priddy Ugly’s real name Richardo “Rick” Moloi and Bontle Jade-Lee Modiselle’s real “Jade”.
About Rick Jade
Their narrative is one of African excellence, the freedom of expression in art, culture & spirituality. They are advocates for love that is genuine & seamlessly natural in its expression – the making of the music was as organic. Their music is what a decade of love, friendship & chemistry sounds like. There sound is both futuristic & nostalgic.
Earlier on this year, Rick Jade gave us unexpected 2 track EP dubbed ‘I Want Something New’ which was well received by everyone everywhere but then again their new project ‘D.N.A’ is a one of kind album which comprise of 10 songs featuring Focalistic, KLY and Frsh Citizen.
According to the lovely, expectant, beautiful Bontle Modiselle, Rick Jade gave us 10 records that correlate with their 10 years of being together with boyfriend, Priddy Ugly that unapologetically approach artistic expression.
“… we give you 10 songs of versatility, range and subject matter, correlating with 10 years of our union in songs that represent a rich, bold and unapologetic approach to artistic expression. A Global African Sound.” Bontle Modiselle said in part about the new album ‘D.N.A’.
The album’s artwork was designed and drawn by hand by the super talented Mark Modimola(@mark_draws) that captures Bontle Modiselle as vibrant, glowing mother Africa.
The amazingly drawn artwork celebrates the musical birth within Africa as Bontle Modiselle looks in the future.
