Patoranking real name Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie has finally released his sophomore studio album as inspired by his beautiful daughter called Wilmer who is named after the album and who is also on the cover art of the album.
The Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer, songwriter iterated that he poured his heart and soul out on his second project and when you get to listen to it, you’d understand what he meant when he said that because the album is an inspirational as it is educative in some sense especially on his ‘Black’ record that I honestly believe every black people alive should listen to with an open mind, he is telling the uncomfortable truth which most people are afraid of telling you today.
“I’ve put my heart and soul into this album. ‘Wilmer’ has purely been a blessing and I hope this project encourages you … The journey hasn’t been easy, but we are thankful for where we are headed,” shared Patoranking on his new sophomore album.
On his previous album dubbed ‘God Over Everything’ released officially on 1 August 2016, Patoranking’s album debuted at number 4 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart which was one of the few African albums to achieve that accolade. With this sophomore album, there’s a high chance it might surpass the record the first album set on the Billboard chart.
“The Battle for supremacy is Killing the Black Culture…Black hate Black, Black don’t Rate Black…” an excerpt from Patoranking’s ‘Black’ record off the ‘Wilmer’ album.
On the ‘Wilmer’ album, Patoranking has worked with different artistes across the globe which is a move that we are not used to see from him since his debut album featured heavily Nigerian artistes but on this album, Davido is the only Nigerian artiste featured on the album with other features coming from Nyashinski, Bera, Dadju, Donae’o, and Busiswa.
Just the way he did for his debut album, Patoranking has since made a pendant for his sophomore album, ‘Wilmer’. Check out the official tracklist of the ‘Wilmer’ album below
