Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko criticizes Charlene Ruto over protest remarks

1 min read

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has taken to social media to criticize Charlene Ruto, the President’s daughter, for her recent speech on the ongoing protests and government issues in Kenya.

In a bold and candid post on his X account, Sonko shared what he termed as ‘truth and advice’ directed at Charlene.

“Madam Charlene, I have just seen this video online. I know guys in the government fear telling you the truth and addressing you with facts and sincerity,” Sonko began.

“Now that I have become a rebel and no longer loyal, let me share some facts and pieces of advice with you. Kindly just relax as your actions are just raising the political temperatures of the leaderless young people. Please let your Dad, the President of the Republic of Kenya, engage them as promised.”

Sonko acknowledged Charlene’s efforts, noting, “I know you’ve been doing a tremendous good job on the ground. I even complimented you at some point, but for now, just keep off, please, until things cool down, kabisa, as you might be worsening the situation.”

His comments come amid heightened political tensions and ongoing protests in the country.

Sonko’s post underscores the sensitive nature of political engagement and the potential impact of public statements by prominent figures, particularly during periods of unrest.
