Kenya-based Congolese singer Solomon Mukubwa has opened up about the circumstances that led to the amputation of his left hand.
Speaking during an interview with Global TV in Tanzania, Mukubwa indicated that dark forces play a big role to him losing his arm.
The ‘Mfalme wa Amani’ hitmaker revealed that the whole drama started when his father met another woman in a drinking den and started dating her.
However, when the woman got pregnant with twins, Mukubwa’s father denied the woman and her babies.
One of the twins died and during the burial, there was a confrontation with the woman’s family.
The gospel singer said that the woman’s father cast an evil spell on their family because of his father’s refusal to take responsibility for the twins.
“Baba aliikataa ile mimba na mpaka mapacha kuzaliwa bado aliwakataa watoto. Pacha mmoja akafa ikaletwa bili ya hospitali lakini tena baba akaikataa. Kwenye mazishi, babu ya yule pacha akaongea akasema ‘mjukuu wangu ulikataliwa na baba kutoka siku ya kwanza, lakini nakuhakikishia hautaenda mwenyewe’. Walipofanya mambo yao taarifa zikatufikia sisi tukajua kama ni vita tutapigana ngumi tu.”
Solomon Mukubwa said that shortly after the burial his sister had diarrhea and within a week she died.
From there, a series of tragedies befell his family saying that they had ignored the old man’s words that ‘his grandson would not go alone’.
The gospel singer said that he was knocked while playing in the street and when he got home his hand had shrunk. His mother gave him first aid but the next day he could not wake up.
Mukubwa said his hand began to rot and doctors ultimately decided to amputate it.
“Hii ni mwezi mmoja baada ya kuzika mdogo wangu aliyeharisha kwa siku mbili tu na kufa. Tulienda hospitali wakanipitisha kwa scan wakidhani nimevunjika, scan ikaonesha mkono uko sawa. Kumbe ni kazi ya shetani. Ikafika hatua tukaenda kufanyiwa upasuaji, daktari kuliko apasue mahali Fulani, akapasua mkono mpaka akakata mishipa yote…”
“Nikafanya miaka 3 naweka mkono kwa maji ya dawa, mfupa ulikuwa unaonekana mweupe. Miaka tatu mkono unaoza, ulikuwa ukija kunitazama ukirudi unalia. Ilibidi madaktari kutoka Uswizi wakasema mkono umeharibika na wakaamua suluhisho ni kukatwa mkono, nilikuwa na miaka kama 14,” he said.
