Solomon Mkubwa has apologized on behalf of all Kenyan gospel artists following the remarks made by comedian Eric Omondi.
In an interview with a local blogger, Mkubwa said that there is no one who is clean before God and asked Kenyans to forgive all evangelists who in one way or another may have stumbled and fallen in the journey of spreading God’s gospel.
“Mimi nafikiria ni kwa sababu matamshi ya Eric Omondi yalikuja kwa njia ya waimbaji Zaidi, lakini watu wote wapo ndani. Ni nyota zinakuwa zinapigwa na hapo ndio unajua kuna tatizo. Lakini pia naomba msamaha, mahali tulikosea, tunaweza kuwa tulikosea tunaomba msamaha, Mungu atusamehe.
“Lakini hilo halitafanya injili ianguke maana injili bado inaendelea, watu wanaponywa. Naomba tu kwa wale ambao huenda tulikosea, tunaeza kuwa tulifanya usherati, tumekiri Mungu atusamehe. Mungu atuoshe. Naomba msamaha kwa niaba ya waimbaji,” Mkubwa said.
The evangelist continued by quoting the book of Mark chapter 7 chapter 21 saying that all human beings live with 12 shortcomings in our hearts, including immorality, bad thoughts, pride, stupidity and so on.
A week ago comedian Omondi uploaded a video shouting at gospel artistes whom he named some of them saying that they have lost God’s anointing and now they are leading in bad deeds and scandals to pollute the gospel everyday.
Those statements for more than a whole week have been received in different ways by some groups, others accusing him of looking for clout in the gospel industry.
However, there are others including fellow evangelists and preachers who have agreed with him saying that he exposed those artists who hide in the Bible but their actions are beyond evil.
