Size 8 has revealed that she used to work as a cleaner at Clemo’s Calif Records studio where she recorded her music.
The gospel singer-turned-preacher narrated her humble rise to success, revealing how she struggled before her big break came and wiped away her tears.
Speaking during an interview with Oga Obinna on his YouTube, Size 8 reminisced about her past life noting that her job as a cleaner helped her rise to fame.
Size 8, who started her music career as a secular musician before transitioning to gospel music in April 2023, noted that her ambition to be a musician is what pushed her to look for a job and she did not discriminate the cleaning opportunity when it fell on her laps.
“I used to work in Calif Records. I was the cleaner there,” Size 8 said.
The 36-year-old mother of two went on to give Calif Records’ music producer Clemo his flowers noting that he helped put her on the path to stardom.
“I noticed that Clemo used to help people a lot. He used to give money to people. Clemo has a father’s heart, so he used to help upcoming artists that he signed, and there were many. So I told him, ‘I don’t want you to strain. Give me a job here at Calif Studios, and then the salary you’ll pay is what I’ll use as fare to come to the studio,” she said.
She went on to detail her job highlighting for Obinna all she used to do at the studio and got paid Ksh6,000 a month.
“I told him I’d be cleaning, washing, cooking, making sure everything was in order in the studio, helping out with the paperwork… and then he used to pay me Ksh6000 a month. So at least I’d get my fare from there,” Size 8 recalled.
Size further noted that she used to pay rent for her parents with the Ksh6,000 salary that she earned. She was still living with her parents then.
