Shelah Marie might have made a lot of Gs, and OGs worldwide, especially those involved in the rap business shed a thug tear after her powerful gesture to her husband, Ace Hood real name Antoine Franklin McColister during Christmas.
Rapper Ace Hood has been independent for years consistently been putting out great music independently for years even after he parting ways with major record companies.
To put into perspective how he’s been putting out great, timeless records, he has a song out dubbed ‘New Guy’ together with our very own son of the African soil, Sarkodie that has been pulling in streaming numbers for years on YouTube and major streaming portals.
Prior to him going independent, Ace Hood hasn’t received his plaques for his projects that he released independently and that’s why his wife, Shelah Marie, a wellness influencer, actress, and curator of Curvy Curly Conscious decided to change because we all know Ace Hood deserves every accolade coming his way for his hard work releasing records independently over the years and consistently.
Ace Hood’s wife Shelah made it her prerogative to celebrate her husband for the achievements he’s accomplished as an independent artiste and saw it fitting to give her husband plaques as Christmas presents.
Ace Hood has been in the music industry for over a decade now, during that time he’s been under a contract with major record labels and while he was signed then, he had a lot of plaques to show for it but since he went independent, he hasn’t received any and Shelah changed all that in a Christmas present to her husband.
“When Ace Hood was last on a major recording label they were excellent about celebrating wins. Ace has so many plaques in the house from that era.” Shelah Marie said in part on her Instagram post supporting her husband, “Since Ace went independent, he hasn’t received any plaques for his projects. Ace is too damn talented not to have his flowers while he can smell them.”
Ace Hood was touched, so much so that he shed a tear of joy and appreciation for Shelah Marie’s Christmas gift for thinking about him.
“I take pride in my music, I feel like it actually does something for people personally, in their personal lives, so it’s real music and it helps people get through things like I was able to get through things.”
It’s not easy being an independent artiste in the super-competitive industry but with a strong support system like that of Shelah Marie, there’s no way Ace Hood won’t make it.
Shelah Marie made plaques for Ace Hood’s project that he released as an independent artiste. She made plaques for ‘Trust the Process’ and ‘Trust the Process II: Undefeated’ which were released in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
“I got plaques made for his first two releases (Trust The Process 1 & 2) since going independent because in this house we don’t wait on the validation we want — we give it ourselves. I love you Ace Hood,” she added.

The ‘Trust the Process’ project cumulatively has over 100 million streams while the ‘Trust the Process II: Undefeated’ project has over 78 million streams. They were both released under his record label, Hood Nation.
Ace Hood, formerly signed to DJ Khaled’s label We the Best Music Group, Def Jam Recordings, and Cash Money Records was grateful to his wife for gifting him with the plaques.
Ace Hood takes pride in his music because to some extent, it helps some people out there to become better in their personal lives while helping them get through tough times.
