Shay Diva got everything working out for her, she’s multiple homeowners, she’s a businesswoman, she’s an entrepreneur, who can afford anything she’s ever wanted.

The good part of it all is that’s she’s barely 30 years old.

Shay Diva whose real name is Sheila Mburu, a professional musician caught the attention of most netizens after her photo driving a Toyota Prado V8 went viral on social media.

Shay Diva was accused by the authority of stealing the luxurious car from her boyfriend. Nothing could be further from the truth, at least according to the musician who is in mourning.

Her boyfriend is the late businessman, the serial entrepreneur, and business magnate, Pankaj Kumar Dodhia who was known as PJ Kumar, a reputable man of Indian descent.

Opening up exclusively to The Nairobian newspaper, Shay Diva first met the businessman back in 2015 in Kitale, her hometown where PJ Kumar was running a hardware business there.

At first, she wasn’t interested in him because at the moment she was in a serious relationship thus the reason why she wasn’t interested in his advances at all was that she’s a loyal girl who is always committed to one man when she’s in a relationship.

Fate would have it that they would meet again only this time around when she was more ready to be involved with the businessman who didn’t hide his intentions of making her his girlfriend, he loved everything about her, everything.

They met in April 2017 at a Casino in Hurlingham, in Nairobi.

After talking for a little bit, PJ Kumar handed her 1 million shillings in cash to gamble in his stead impressing the businessman who knew President Uhuru Kenyatta in person by making 2.4 million shillings.

This made PJ Kumar want to know her even more and voila! that’s how their romance story began.

“I was single, he told me his family was in the UK(United Kingdom) and had not come to Kenya for 10 years, so he was lonely. I didn’t mind dating him. A week later, he invited me to Kitale. He paid for my flight and we went to a casino in Eldoret. That day, I didn’t win much, only Kshs. 100,000,” Shay Diva –who confessed she got attracted to PJ Kumar because of the way he treated her like a queen– said.

Another trait she came to admire about her late boyfriend was how great he used to treat his employees reiterating that he had the biggest of hearts she’s ever seen yet.

“He had a very good heart and he treated Africans well, especially his workers,” she said.

Knowing that she was meant to be with him, she moved in with him after one month in his Milimani Estate in Kitale putting her in charge of everything in his home.

The tycoon has always treated her like a queen making sure she lacks nothing in this life if he could help it.

In the years they have been together, PJ Kumar has gifted Shay Diva a lot of presents among them being numerous homes across the country, cars, and spoilt her some more.

“He treated me like a queen. He always wanted to give me the best. He bought me three mansions, in Diani, at Elgon View Estate in Eldoret and in Kitengela where I stay when I’m in Nairobi,” she said.

The 29-year-old went further to open up about her plans of building her retirement mansion in Kitale, a project that she’s about to finish.

“I’m also building my retirement home in Kitale which will soon be completed and he made sure I got the best contractors. He knew I was a smart woman and I was taking good care of him,” she said.

The well-known philanthropic tycoon didn’t only gift her with houses and made preparations to build her one, he also bought her vehicles. He bought her four cars in total with Toyota Auris being her very first car. She remembers this because it was back in 2019 during Valentine’s Day.

Proving that PJ Kumar was a sweet, loving, and caring boyfriend, he bought her a Toyota Prado V8 when Shay suffered a miscarriage back in April 2021.

The other two he bought for her were Mazda Demio which he bought in 2020 to kickstart her taxi business.

She was also bring given a monthly allowance to make sure that she’s taking good care of herself so that she doesn’t lack anything whatsoever.

“He was a kind man. He funded my tender business and gave me a monthly allowance of Kshs. 300,000,” she says.

Speaking on the death of PJ Kumar, Shay Diva says that she was devastated when she learned about his death noting that she’s still in mourning.

She noted that his health took a dip last November disclosing that he was diabetic.

“He was admitted at the Eldoret hospital with diabetes and high blood pressure complications. When I went to visit him in hospital, he had withdrawal symptoms since the doctors had requested him to stop drinking. He was in a bad state. Unfortunately, on April 22, his house boy called me informing me he had rested. I woke up and prayed for him. He was cremated the next day.” Shay Diva said.

The singer who is from a humble background and the firstborn out of three children says that she will now focus on her business and her music career where she hopes she will make a make as an artiste and also as an executive.

“In the next five years, I will hopefully have my record label with a few recording artistes who I will be managing,” she said.

Never been shy to accept where she’s coming from, or her humble beginnings, Shay Diva admits that PJ Kumar changed her life tremendously.

She is the firstborn in a family of three, she went to Mukumu Girls Primary School, Loreto Convent for her High School education, and pursued nursing school at Kenya Medical Training College(KMTC) in Lodwar.

Thereafter, she started Riontoshi Limited, her company where she deals with supplies and tenders while being a musician on the side. Despite music being her passion, it hasn’t been paying for her bills for years. It’s her business that puts food on her table.

“I have loved singing I was in class six, but my mother was strict and she wanted me to focus on my education.

So I stopped it until 2018 when I was stable and able to pay for my videos and recording sessions.

I use my music career to make connections for my business, right now music is not paying for my lifestyle.” the ‘Zungushiwa’ hitmaker said talking to the Nairobian newspaper.
