Colombian pop star Shakira and her former husband Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué parted ways in June 2022 after 12 years of marriage.
The 46-year-old singer had suspected the footballer was cheating upon finding strawberry jam in her cupboards, which neither she nor her kids liked, hinting that someone else had been staying over.
Following their split, Gerard has moved on with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia. Meanwhile, Shakira has been rumoured to be dating Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.
Following the pair going their separate ways, Shakira made no secret of her feelings about the breakup – often slamming Piqué as she is yet to get over the breakup pain.
The mother of two launched a blistering attack on her unfaithful ex-husband in a recent song.
In her six-second preview of her upcoming single Empty Cup, she seemingly calls out Gerard while singing in Spanish.
“You are always busy with so much business. It would be nice, my love, a little leisure. Relax here on the sofa and give me your attention. The phone rings, use your hand with me I know you’re hot, but I’m much hotter,” she sang.
It isn’t the first time Shakira has used her music to air her anger towards Gerard. In January, she released a diss track with producer Bizarrap, called Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53.
She made it crystal clear that she was referring to her ex and his 23-year-old new girlfriend, singing: “I’m worth two 22’s. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”
Shakira’s preview for Empty Cup comes after it reports that Gerard and Clara are planning to announce their engagement this weekend.
