Scar is easily one of the best rappers Kenya has ever seen today, nobody can dispute that, he’s most definitely destined for greatness in this super-competitive music career, as a rapper.
His ability to adapt to different genres and styles of music when he’s needed to is one of the few traits that not most rappers can boast of.
Scar is certainly cut from a different breed of rappers, he’s that type of rapper who can even rap, flow and use amazing unprecedented metaphors on a dancehall and/or reggae beats and still give you vibes while he’s at it.
Some fans have even compared him to Khaligraph Jones, calling him OG 2.o but he’s never claimed it, so there’s that, another trait of his, humility and contentment.
He’s certainly a GOAT in the making if not already one.
The rapper who is 1/3 member of Wakadinali together with Sewersydaa and Domani Munga is more than happy to be considered as an underground rap group in hip hop today.
There’s something about Wakadinali though that makes them stand out from the rest of rappers and rap groups, they’ve identified their niche in the rap game and made them their own.
Scar tells the world he is the best rapper alive and he is not lying
A lot of their music is not always mainstream material and they know that matter of fact, they embrace it and run with it as it were.
For an underground hip hop group, Wakadinali is causing some major ripples around the globe making a lot of rap critics question how possible is that.
Wakadinali and Scar’s songs stand out from the rest of other groups and rappers, that’s what makes them stand out actually, their authenticity of telling a story as raw as the story actually was without using any filters or sugarcoating anything.
As much as Wakadinali is an underground rap group, they have clawed their way up to the top in the mainstream music realm.
Let’s disagree to agree that Wakadinali is the top underground rappers not only in Kenya but across the East and Central Africa today, hands down!
I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve surpassed their plateau to become the number 1 hip hop group in Africa because each and every other member of Wakadinali are putting in work seriously.
The group also has one of the best loyal fan bases in the game dubbed the Rong Rende that represents all the neighborhoods in Nairobi’s Eastlands area with each member of Wakadinali having their own fanbase as much as they do collectively.
Scar, a quick-witted rapper opened up like never before about a lot of things in his music career and even his personal life.
The outspoken rapper who has since relocated to Kisumu –a place where he’s operating from– had a sit-down interview with Nicholas Chacha Moroga popularly known as Chaxy on the first episode of the ‘In Conversation show where he opened up about a lot of stuff nobody knew about him.
He opened up about his penmanship, his inspiration, the love that Wakadinali’s clique Rong Rende has in the Eastlands area, and moving to Kisumu. Most importantly, he opened up about music and then some.
King Kaka challenges Octopizzo, Redsan, Khaligraph Jones and Nyashinski
Scar, being a hip hop artiste and a successful one since he said that Wakadinali makes money through music and merchandise he is also a critic, a subtle one at that.
He opened up about where he stands in regard to Nyashinski not being a rapper but a singer.
Scar also called out Nyashinski in his ‘Kovu’ hit song that is actually the most remixed song in the entire East and Central African region, some might even say in the entire continent.
“Nyash tumemwaminia lakini tukimpoteza hakuna comeback ingine,”
“Hebu wacha nikuulize, Nyash anarap ama anaimba?” Scar asked Chaxy after the host of the ‘In Conversation’ show asked him about where he categorizes Nyashinski as a rapper.
Chaxy deflected the question asking the ‘Kovu’ hitmaker if Domani Munga raps or sings, “Domani anarap ama anaimba?” Chaxy deflected.
Scar was quick to answer telling Chaxy that Domani Munga(a member of Wakadinali) is one of the best hook masters on the planet today by far and nobody holds a candle to him today in the music industry, as the best hook master in the game.
“Domani is one of the best hook masters in this whole world, he’s a rapper, anaweza imba,” Scar said.
Scar went ahead to give his two cents on why he believes Nyashinski isn’t a rapper, he even compared him to a woman amongst the great male rappers in the country.
Scar reiterated that he doesn’t mean any disrespect toward Nyashinski in any way at all, he respects him as a mainstream artiste but he believes he doesn’t hold a candle to the best rappers from Kenya by far and according to him, he’s not one of the best rappers to ever come from Kenya.
“Nyash venye anapush muziki yake msee, hatuwezi mueka in the same category na Scar, ati useme Scar, useme Johnny Vigeti, useme Abbas, useme, unajua? tena useme Nyash, no! hapo ni kama umeleta msichana tena. unapata chenye nakushow, ni kama umefanya vitu zikakuwa hivi na vitu zilikuwa ngumu(The way Nyash[inski] is pushing his music, we can’t put him in the same category with Scar, you say Scar, you say Johnny Vigeti, you say Abbas, you say you know? then you say Nyash[inski]no! it’s like you’ve brought a female again. You understand what I’m saying, it’s like you’ve made things to be like this and things were tough ).” Scar said in part.
He went on to explain why he believes Nyashinski is not a rapper, Scar says Nyashinski hasn’t concentrated on hip hop at all.
“What I’m saying is, Nyash ni mnoma lakini most of his songs haja-concentrate sana na hip hop na kurap venye sisi tunarap manze unajua sisi tanafanya kitu yenye it’s obvious haimekii msee yoyote doh, unanipata, it’s so obvious si tunafanya hardcore music na tunaipatia numbers.
Hebu niambie msee yoyote Kenya anafanya hardcore music na anaget numbers, hakuna! tafuta hii Kenya, no one(What I’m saying is, Nyash[inski] is good but most of he hasn’t concentrated on hip hop in most of his songs and rapping and the way we’re rapping, you know we’re doing something that’s obvious it’s not making anyone any money, you get, it’s so obvious we’re doing hardcore music and we’re giving it numbers)” the ‘Whip inapiga Madoba’ hitmaker added.
This is Scar’s two cents on why he believes Nyashinski isn’t the best rapper in Kenya today and probably why he won’t ever be. Of course, he didn’t mean any disrespect by it in any way whatsoever.
Over the past few years, Scar has gradually become one of the best sought-after rappers in Kenya predominantly putting out songs every other day pushing the Kenyan hip hop scene to the next level.
