Sandra Dacha, an actress who hails from the Luo community, has revealed a big secret about why many women from that community do not want to marry men of the same ethnic background.

In an interview with Oga Obinna, Dacha said that many Jaluo women like to be heard and involved in making decisions at home, something that many Jaluo men see as inappropriate.

Dacha stated that the characteristic of Luo men of wanting to make decisions alone and not involve their women as the main reason why their women want to spread their wings outside where they are given the chance to present their opinions at the table.

“Wanaume Wajaluo wanapenda upuuzi tu ule wa kutotaka wanawake wameke decisons, wanaona ni kama mwanamke hafai kuuliza mwanamume mahali ametoka. Sisi hatuwezi kubali hivyo,” Dacha said.

The actor said that many men do not like to go out with their women to parties and said that if a man is married to a woman and has put her under his control, then he should not be traumatized when his wife wants to go anywhere with him.

“Kama mimi ni mali yako, na unataka kwenda mahali, mbona usikwende na mimi? Unaniacha kwa nyumba nikifanya nini, si sisi wote ni kitu kimoja? Ndio maana hatupendi upuzi, wanaume Wajaluo hawapendi kuulizwa mahali wametoka,” she added.

Dacha, however, said that their men are loved by women from other tribes who do not pay attention to what they – the Luo women – pay attention to.

He also said that Luhya women are like them in that they do not like stubborn men like Luo men.

Jokingly, Dacha said that Luo women also don’t like to be controlled, joking that she was controlling Akuku Danger.

“Wanawake Wajaluo pia hatupendi kukaliwa. Badala yake ni sisi ndio tunakalia. Unaona vile mimi nakalia Akuku, mbaya sana,” she said.
