The highly anticipated Blankets and Wine festival is set to return on July 28, 2024, featuring a star-studded lineup of award-winning artistes.

Musicians lined up for the event include; Nikita Kering’, Sanaipei Tande, Savara, Bensoul, and South African sensation Samthing Soweto.

The event, known for its vibrant blend of music, food, craft, and fashion, will take place at the the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Since last year, Blankets and Wine has held four editions of the festival annually: on the first Sunday of each quarter and the last Sunday before Christmas.

This upcoming event marks the second edition for 2024, with subsequent editions scheduled for October 6 and December 22.

Originally slated for July 7, the festival was postponed due to ongoing protests across the country since June.

The rescheduling came as a precautionary measure in light of the political significance of July 7, or Sabasaba, a day commemorating the fight for political freedom in Kenya.

Event organizer Muthoni Drummer Queen explained the decision in a statement, citing safety concerns.

“We have the hard news that after extensive consultation, we do not have the necessary security clearance to go ahead with Blankets & Wine this coming Sunday. Due to the political situation on July 7, there is a high possibility of threats to life and property including road closures, sudden protests, infiltration after dusk, among others,” the statement read.

The first edition of the year, held in April, featured performances by Nigerian artist Wurld, Kenyan musician Eric Wainaina, acapella group Wanavokali, rapper Fena Gitu, and Chris Kaiga.

Over the years, Blankets and Wine has cemented its reputation as one of Kenya’s premier live music events, attracting a diverse audience with its eclectic mix of entertainment.

The festival provides a platform for both established and emerging artists to showcase their talents, fostering a sense of community and cultural exchange.

Tickets for the July 28 edition are currently on sale for Ksh4,500. Fans are encouraged to secure their spots early to enjoy a day filled with exceptional performances and a rich cultural experience.
