While speaking during a harambee in Bartolimo in his county on Wednesday, December 7, Moi said that his differences with DP William Ruto are not personal but emanate from the inability of him and President Uhuru Kenyatta to deliver on their promises.
It’s obvious that there’s no lost love between Kanu Chairman leader Gideon Moi and his political rival and DP William Ruto, and now the Baringo Senator has revealed why he dislikes the DP.
“Ruto likes insulting Rift Valley region leaders, and his allies, including Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, defend him even when he is wrong. He uses his visits to various regions to tarnish my name in order to get sympathy votes but that will not work,” Moi noted.
He said that he is only concerned about the interests of Kenyans unlike some individuals or groups who behave in a bitter manner.
“Murkomen openly told me he is Ruto’s sycophant when we were at the Senate building. It really shocked me given that our role as elected leaders is to see to the interests of people and not an individual,” Moi revealed as quoted in The Standard.
The duo are entangled in a grueling battle for the kingship of the Rift Valley voting block – the single largest in the country even as the 2017 General Election fast approaches
The bitter exchanges at one point got personal when DP Ruto said openly that Moi should avoid engaging in adult activities when he is still uncircumcised.
Their enmity goes way back, since the days of Daniel Moi, Gideon’s dad, the two have been battling to inherit former president Daniel Moi’s mantle for the last decade.
Moi led the aforementioned harambee as he beat fundraiser deadline where he explained why he disliked DP William Ruto so much.
Yesterday, December 7, was the deadline the Election Laws has set for harambees in the run up to the 2017 elections.
Any politician or aspirant now found dishing out cash faces prosecution and even disqualification from vying in 2017.
