There has been disorder in the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) on who should be the presidential candidate to face off with Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta.
Calls have intensified lately for Raila Odinga to endorse someone else for the presidency.
Raila Odinga has now come out to address the calls.
The three CORD principals (Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula) seem to be pulling apart regarding the flagbearer issue.
Wetangula and Kalonzo have lately intensified their calls for Raila (who stands a better chance to get the ticket) to step aside and back them for the top seat.
The two argue that Raila has tried three times but failed and he is doomed to fail again.
This has prompted the former prime minister to come out and speak on the endorsement calls.
Addressing the media at his Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi Wednesday, October 5, Raila dismissed the calls and instead said the CORD flagbearer will be picked through nominations.
He said the parties are consolidating their support before they settle on the most popular candidate to run for president.
He likened the candidature to a beautiful girl who everyone is eyeing.
“This is a beautiful girl and everyone is trying to market themselves, saying I am the best suited. The girl will make a decision,” Raila said.
There is a likelihood of the CORD being disbanded as the leaders seem to be pulling apart, even more, each day.
