It has now emerged that five armed police units were used on Monday, March 13, after a tweet from one of Governor Hassan Joho handlers suggested that the latter would respond to the president’s Tononoka remarks in his presence.
As a result, the governor was restricted from attending the re-launch of Mtongwe ferry operations, a function presided over by the head of state.
The last time Joho shared a platform with Uhuru, the governor caused him embarrassment when he said the central government was taking credit for projects it had not initiated.
Officers were drawn from the General Service Unit, Kenya Police, presidential security team, forest rangers and plain clothes detectives.
