Mombasa County Governor, Hassan Joho is under fire over a sum of KSh 217 Million that was spent without the approval of the Controller of Budget.
Senators have demanded that Joho presents documents detailing the expenditure to the auditors office for further scrutiny.
If Joho is unable to provide the said documents, he risks being prosecuted for flouting the Public Finance Management Act- this would see him go behind bars for 3 years or pay a fine of KSh 5 M.
Senators have given Mombasa County Governor, Hassan Joho, a week to give an explanation why he used over KSh 217 Million without the permission of the Controller of Budget.
