Police release blow by blow account of how rapper Yo Gotti’s brother was shot dead

Rapper Yo Gotti, famed for his hit song ‘Pills & Automobiles’ with Chris Brown, lost his brother after he is shot dead outside a restaurant.

Unknown assailants shot and killed Yo Gotti’s brother Anthony ‘Big Jook’ Mims and another unidentified person outside of Perignons Restaurant & Event Center on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

Memphis police have since released new details on the murder. Below is the police statement:

On January 13, around 4:15 pm, an officer was in the area of 6385 Winchester Road when he heard multiple gunshots.

He proceeded to the location and found two victims with multiple gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to the hospital.

Victim Anthony Mims, 47, has been identified as the victim who was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The second male victim is in stable condition.

A witness on the scene advised suspects in a white SUV were responsible for the shooting.

The image of the suspect vehicle was captured on surveillance video.

The vehicle is described as a white Ford Explorer with black wheels and dark-tinted windows.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.

Chief Deputy Paul Wright shared in a press conference that Memphis PD does not have a clear suspect identified at this time, but that they are evaluating “video evidence” from the incident.

Wright also stated that the police department suspects Mims and the second person were possibly targeted by the suspect.

Mims had attended a funeral for a relative earlier that day, according to a report by TMZ.

In Mim’s last Instagram Story posts, he had posted tributes to a family member who had passed.
