Video vixen Brenda Otieno decided to institute a lawsuit against Bahati for failing to pay her for her role in ‘Adhiambo’ music video.
Bahati featured Brenda as the main video vixen in his music video ‘Adhiambo’ with Prince Indah which was released in May 2021.
In May 2022, Brenda came out to complain that Bahati had not paid her a dime for her role in ‘Adhiambo’.
Brenda once again came out to demand her payment from Bahati in May 2023. She gave the singer a 24-hour ultimatum to pay her dues or be slapped with a lawsuit.
Bahati ignored Brenda’s ultimatum and she sought legal counsel to sue the singer.
Brenda got her lawyers to write Bahati a demand letter.
“Bahati I have tried reaching you, I have given you enough time to reach out to me. I have kept quiet for a very long time, I have been talking on social media you are not reaching out to me. You go ahead post a video mocking me because I am demanding for my right. Now let me tell you, I have gone the legal way and this is a demand letter. I demand you to pay me my money. He is a demand letter from my lawyer. Tunakutana kotini, you must pay me sikuachi,” Brenda said as she showed off the demand letter.
Speaking to YouTuber Nicholas Kioko, Brenda explained her lawsuit against Bahati – revealing that she is demanding 20% of the revenue generated from ‘Adhiambo’.
She said that she wants to be paid Ksh4 million.
“I demand 20 per cent of what that video has brought out as an income. I demand a 20 per cent from the income you have gotten from that video. Or else I demand for my video to be removed from that song. I don’t want to see myself, I don’t want to associate myself with that video if I am not to be paid. I demand for 20 per cent or else you pull down that video. I demand to be paid 4 million out of this video,” Brenda said.
Brenda further explained how she arrived at the Ksh4 million compensation that she wants.
“I demand to be paid 4 million because I vixened for you the song trended you have a lot of views. I demand to be paid 4 million and that is just 20 per cent of the total earning you have gotten from that video. I am also a mathematician, I did my own calculations. Or else you bring that video down. And after bring it down you have to pay me for compensation of one year that the video has been trending. I demand to be paid, I am not requesting,” she said.
Speaking during an interview with with Plug TV, Prince Indah expressed his willingness to pay the Ksh.4 million that Brenda Otieno demands, but only if she justifies her influence in making ‘Adhiambo’ song go viral.
“Mimi nitamlipa hiyo pesa lakini kwanza akuje aseme the special aspect she brought in the video that makes her demand the amount,” Prince Indah said.
