In an extraordinary act of industry solidarity, the self-proclaimed ‘President’ of Kenyan hip-hop, CMB Prezzo, has launched a high-profile rescue mission to save the career of fellow veteran rapper DNA.
The move comes just 24 hours after a “raw and unfiltered” video went viral, showing a humble DNA, born Dennis Kaggia, pleading for a single slot in the upcoming New Year’s Eve crossover celebrations.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, December 17, Prezzo – whose real name is Jackson Ngecu Makini – shocked fans by setting aside the usual bravado of the rap world to launch the “HBO: Help A Brother Out” campaign.
“Promoters, Promoters! Hear a brother’s cry “a clean 6 figures is all he asking for. 31st December” HBO :- Help A Brother Out. Tag him & Tag all the promoters….” Prezzo wrote.

The public endorsement from Prezzo has sent a powerful message to the “shadow cartels” DNA claims are holding him back.
DNA, a titan of Kenya’s golden era of music, sparked the intervention when he sensationally claimed he was being “cut out” of “Old School” festivals despite his massive catalog of hits.
The Banjuka singer alleged that long-standing grudges and “whispered narratives” by unnamed rivals have poisoned his reputation among show organisers.

“I sijuangi kulamba [I don’t know how to bootlick],” DNA declared defiantly in the clip. “I had a beef with one guy who seemingly knows everyone… so he makes sure I’m cut.”
Crucially, DNA revealed that the “rockstar” antics of his youth are long gone. The rapper, who previously struggled with alcoholism, confirmed he is now completely sober and maintains a “modest rider” with no demands for expensive booze or “diva” treatment.
He insisted that his stage presence remains unmatched, claiming: “I dominate everyone on stage. Except maybe Redsan, Kenrazy, and Jua Cali on a good day. Apart from them, I cover everyone else.”
