DP Ruto is determined to become president in 2022 after Uhuru has left office.
The DP has an agreement with Uhuru that Central Kenya will support him in 2022.
However, a section of leaders from the region has warned Ruto that Mt. Kenya support is not automatic
Among them is Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and nominated Jubilee Senator Paul Njoroge.
Uhuru has now reiterated that he will be fully behind Ruto come 2022 .
In a statement issued Tuesday, June 28, State House Senior Director of Public Communication Munyori Buku said that the president will support Ruto when the time comes because it is an agreement they made.
The statement also says that Uhuru will support his deputy because he believes he is the right man to carry on with his development projects which he says the 10-year threshold given by the constitution is not enough to allow him complete them.
“His Excellency the President has been categorical about the 2022 Jubilee ticket. He has made it very clear that the party will fully back Deputy President William Ruto. First, the president has explained that 10 years of his own term are not long enough to implement the grand plan Jubilee has for Kenya,” Buku said in the statement.
The president believes DP Ruto will help complete the Jubilee development agenda.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will support DP Ruto in 2022 because he (Ruto) ‘is doing an excellent job and has proved his abilities, acumen and diligence as a leader’.
“Those haranguing the country over the 2022 election are wasting their time. The reaction of Jubilee supporters and many other Kenyans have been absolutely clear in their support for the deputy president,” he said further.
The statement comes a day after a Jubilee nominated senator warned DP Ruto that the Central Kenya support is not guaranteed come 2022 despite an agreement with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He also believes DP Ruto has the ability to become a great leader.
