Gibson Gathu Mbugua, the popular Vioja Mahakamani prosecutor best known as “kiongozi wa mashtaka,” has died.
Mbugua, 56, who had been unwell for the majority of this year, passed away on December 22, 2022. Gibson Gathu Mbugua who had kidney failure has been getting treatment.
The actor explained how kidney failure has devastated his family’s finances since he was diagnosed in a previous interview.
Mbugua, a prosecutor noted for his no-nonsense attitude to trials, was a popular favorite on Vioja Mahakamani. President Uhuru Kenyatta gave Mbugua Ksh 2 million in June to help with his medical bills and post kidney surgery care.
Due to the high cost of medication, the government should consider making health care cheaper or even free to it’s citizens. This will make sure that every Kenyan has access to quality health care services.
Gibson Gathu Mbugua sadly explained how the enormous expense of dialysis had put him and his household in a precarious situation, forcing them with no choice but to plea for contributions from Kenyans to support him to pay for his operation and post organ transplant therapy.
Vioja Mahakamani has aired on KBC for many years, from way back even before I was born. The theatrical show, showcases the daily life inside courts with a spice of comedy and drama.
Some of the actors who acted with Gibson Gathu Mbugua include, Makokha, Ondiek Nyuka Kwota,Olexander Josphat, Lucy Wangui among others.
