Kenyans are wondering why Raila Odinga skipped former Lucy Kibaki’s funeral at Othaya,Nyeri today. Well,his chair was vacant because he was somewhere celebrating.
He led the CORD fraternity on a visit to Ildamat, Kajiado County for a thanksgiving ceremony in honor of Hon Elijah Memusi (MP, Kajiado Central)
Raila Odinga expressed CORD’S collective solidarity with the issues pertinent to the residents of the county including land ownership, management of county natural resources and inclusivity in governance.
‘Of particular interest is the land question with the recent Community Land Bill proposed by Jubilee that would strip the National Land Commission of oversight on community land and place those powers in the office of the Cabinet Secretary for Lands. We believe such a move is retrogressive and rolls back the gains in transparent management of public land.
We further restated our intention to continue agitating for the comprehensive and wholesome reform of the IEBC. This is the irreducible minimum for free and fair elections in Kenya in 2017.’ Raila Odinga says.
