A Tanzanian man stabbed three people in the Eastleigh neighborhood of Nairobi, killing two of them.He stabbed them over a KSh 30,000 gambling loss. The man was then lynched by a mob.
The violence broke out shortly after midnight on the evening of Monday, February 8. John Barnabas Mchanga, irate after a gambling loss of approximately KSh 30,000, went to confront the management of City View Bar.
He found Winfred Mbuvi, aged 40. When he demanded that he play for free, she denied him.
That set off Mchanga, who pulled out a Somali-style sword then stabbed and slashed Mbuvi to death. A security guard named James Luptea attempted to intervene in the situation but was also killed.
Police report that a third person was injured by Mchanga and is currently in serious condition in an area hospital.
