The governor of Machakos County, Dr. Alfred Mutua made history by his County being the first County government having a State of the art Cancer Care and Research Centre in the entire country and offering the services absolutely free to Machakos County residents.
The project was fully funded by the Machakos Government which cost them over 40 million Kenyan shillings to set it up.

The Governor also promised to bring other equipment estimated to be worth 300 million Kenya Shillings by next year that will be used at the Machakos Cancer Care and Research Centre.
