Pastor Victor Kanyari of the Salvation Healing Ministry has recently cautioned members of his congregation against joining the popular short video network TikTok.
In a sermon shared on Shifu TV’s TikTok page, Pastor Kanyari expressed concerns about the platform’s content and urged his followers to avoid it.
Speaking to his congregation, Pastor Kanyari emphasized the dangers he perceives on TikTok, describing it as a space filled with undesirable elements.
“TikTok iko na maneno, usiingie wewe. Sitaki unione, wewe kaa huko kwa TV. Usiingie huko, huko kuna wazimu wa huko, wa Mathare wako huko. Wazimu wote duniani huwa wako TikTok. Mimi yale mambo ninasikua huko sijawahi yasikia kwingine tangu nizaliwe, lakini navumilia,” Kanyari said.
Despite his warnings, Pastor Kanyari acknowledged his own presence on TikTok, where he actively engages with users and shares his message.
However, he clarified that his intention is not to pursue monetary gain on the platform but to reach out to young people who are prevalent users of TikTok.
He expressed his desire to preach to them, believing that many are susceptible to negative influences.
Pastor Kanyari’s advice to his congregation underscores the ongoing debate surrounding the impact of social media on religious communities.
While acknowledging the benefits of digital outreach, he also cautions against the potential pitfalls, urging his followers to prioritize their spiritual well-being above online trends.
