The celebrated, veteran actor, Papa Shirandula real name Charles Bukeko has died while undergoing treatment in Karen hospital.

The veteran actor has been gracing our television screens for years and throughout his career, he has worked with international and local-based brands making him one of the most successful actors of our generation.

It is not yet clear what might have been the cause of his death.

Speaking with Kenyans, Bukeko’s sister-in-law opened up to them saying that they were waiting for the hospital’s report.

“They have not given us the details. We are waiting for the hospital’s report but he was just unwell,” she said.

Confirming the news, the family said Bukeko who is a firstborn in a family of four died on Saturday morning at Karen Hospital after a short illness. He was aged 58.

Citizen TV released an official statement through the News Anchor, Willis Raburu that reads;

“Popular Kenyan actor Charles Bukeko is dead. Bukeko who is well known to fans by his brand name Papa Shirandula passed on early today morning at Karen Hospital after a short illness.

The demise of Charles Bukeko marks a big blow to his family and the Royal Media Services fraternity where he featured prominently in the Citizen TV series Papa Shirandula.

He will be remembered for his role in acting and comedy, which earned him several awards including Kalasha in 2010. He will also be remembered for appearing in big-time commercials across the globe including Coca Cola adverts”

Charles Bukeko is survived by his wife Beatrice Ebbie Andega, and three children; Tony, Charlie, and Wendy.
