The news of Orie Rogo Manduli passing on is that news nobody was looking forward to or thought possible because she’s always been the strongest woman you knew, the original iron lady.
The pacesetter, the phenomenal, the women’s advocate, the very first woman Rally Driver, and the former Miss Kenya is a woman of many titles.
Her fashion sense was also impressive and out of this world, she had the best head wraps in the whole of Africa if not the entire world, nobody came close to her beautiful headwraps, nobody! she even impressed Nigerians who are usually big on head wraps.
President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogized Ms Manduli for being fearless, bold, a mentor and a champion for women empowerment and accomplished politicians in Kenya.
“It is sad and unfortunate that death has taken away Mama Orie Rogo Manduli, one of our country’s most recognizable, highly charismatic and accomplished politicians. A bold leader and mentor, Ms Manduli tirelessly championed for women empowerment,” the President mourned.
Deputy President William Ruto also mourned the former Miss Kenya who died at the age of 73. The DP shared that Orie Rogo Manduli had inspired all generations by being a formidable warrior for women’s rights and always being aggressive and vocal.
“Our country has lost a courageous and incredible leader who inspired people of all generations. Orie Rogo Manduli was vocal, aggressive and formidable warrior for women’s rights. We will best remember her as a groundbreaker and pioneer Kenyan female rally driver. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and their loved ones during this painful time. Rest In Peace” shared DP Ruto.
The news of her death as confirmed by her family is a huge loss to Kenyans all over the world and that’s why she’s been trending on Twitter for the past few hours, it’s still so hard to believe.
“Amb Orie Rogo Manduli was a charismatic no-nonsense politician. Her passing on dims a bright star that illuminated far and wide. She was a committed member of Ford Kenya. Our entire party fraternity will miss her. Pole to the family. RIP mama,” Senator, and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula shared on Twitter.
Fellow legislator James Orengo also took time to send his condolences to the family, fans, friends, and all Kenyans for the loss of a phenomenal Kenyan woman.
“A luminary in women rights, African Fashion, politics, governance & democracy has rested. Orie Rogo Manduli will forever be remembered for how multilayered she was. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” Orengo shared.
Other Kenyans also took turns to share how Afrocentric, patriotic she was and her genuine love for Kenya and everything about Kenya. Every tweet sent out in her honor is that of praise for everything she’s done for Kenyan and Kenyans at large.
Below, are a few tweets out of thousands sent out in her honor full of praise after her sudden death.

I’m heart-broken. Orie Rogo Manduli was my sounding board. She joined our ancestors on the same day my uncle did. I’m sorry that despot Uhuru Kenyatta and conman @RailaOdinga made me miss the fish, dek and ugali lunch you were to make for me on February 3, 2018. #RIPManduli
