Octopizzo and Juliani had to argue about hip hop in the country and how far they have brought the Kenyan hip hop to glory through their efforts collectively.
The two established rap artistes who haven’t worked together, at least not yet, were invited over to Boniface Mwangi’s home for lunch yesterday where they talked about everything else but most importantly they talked about Kenyan hip hop.
Journalist, James Smart was also a part of the conversation since he was also invited for lunch by Mwangi who recently shared his worst decision ever of buying an expensive car to impress strangers.
Boniface Mwangi opens up on selling Juliani his Mercedes Benz
He advised Boniface to record the entire conversation between Juliani and Octopizzo after they started debating about the state of Kenyan music, especially rap music.
Boniface Mwangi shared a short clip of the debate between Octopizzo and Juliani on social media with a promise of releasing the full clip later on.
“I was the first person to put [hip hop music] inside boardrooms,” Juliani said in the short clip Boniface Mwangi shared and Octopizzo seems to agree as well. “but not only did I ingiza [hip hop] to boardrooms, what I also did was, I took it live differently, so that separates me from just being a hip hop artiste” he went on.
“so that means I used to get played [on radio]everywhere, not only in a gospel radio station and hip hop radio station,” Juliani added. “I’m the one who started this stuff and now these people [referring to Octopizzo who was seated next to him and the new generation of hip hop greats in King Kaka and Khaligraph Jones] are enjoying what I made possible”
It’s sad the clip ends abruptly when Octopizzo was about to share his side of the narrative and how he himself changed the rap game as well.
The suspense got everybody else asking when Boniface Mwangi is going to release the full video of these two great artistes going back to back about Kenyan hip hop facts.
