Nyashinski has finally let his voice heard after he spoke against the perpetual police brutality on social media after George Floyd’s murder was witnessed live on a video that has since gone viral.
Nyashinski who has spent ten years in the United States after he took a musical hiatus before he came back isn’t amused the way the police have been treating their fellow citizens in such a cruel way especially here in Kenya.
“Police brutality and murders have become so bad and common here in Kenya. It pains me deeply.” Nyashinski said in part.
Nyashinski also shared that he has in the past been harassed by police and even lost close friends to police bullets reiterating that his story is not that unique at all to anyone who has also gone through the same ordeal like him in the country.
“I’ve been harassed by cops, my friends have been harassed and I’ve even lost friends to police bullets and my story is NOT unique.” He went on, adding, “Now, they are using this Corona curfew as an excuse to brutally beat us and even shoot us.”
“You’re killing your own and thinking you’re doing a great job or thinking you are big and strong.”
“When will enough be enough? How many “justice” hashtags do we need to be heard? I mean, what the fxck?! It’s so sad and especially us Kenyans relate with George Floyd in so many ways.”
“All across the world, even in places where we are the majority (like here), we are still terrorized, raped, murdered, wrongly accused, imprisoned, suspected of being violent, abused, and treated like we are less than others because of the color of our skin.”
“From the U.S to Arab countries (where some of us go to work) to Europe, even to our own neighborhoods! You name it. Black people experience the most envy and hatred at the same time.” The ‘Mungu Pekee’ hitmaker went on.

Nyashinski finished his powerful yet emotional post with a parting shot that might resonate with most people of color saying;
“Always remember, a racist is more afraid of you than you are of them and a coward is only courageous with a gang or a gun. Fxck racism and fxck racists and END POLICE BRUTALITY AND MURDERS!”
Nyashinski is known for always keeping quiet most of the times even after being called out by netizens, fellow musicians and entertainers but this time around, Nyashinski who has recently released his debut album ‘Lucky You’ couldn’t stay quiet at all and he made his voice heard, that alone speaks volume.
Nyashinski and Octopizzo are the two mainstream rappers who have come forward to talk against the police brutality and openly spoke about it on their social media platforms. Octopizzo went protesting yesterday outside the US Embassy in Nairobi calling the end of police brutality.
