Police in Kenya are now making it a habit to teargas defenseless pupils. Sometimes in 2015 pupils at Lang’ata Road Primary School in Nairobi were teargassed by police while protesting against the grabbing of their play field.
On Monday October 2nd police were at it again; anti-riot police lobbed teargas at St Peter’s Awich Kodingo ECDE in Nyalenda slums in Kisumu.
The incident happened as police were engaging Nasa protestors who were demonstrating against Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Pupils at St Peter’s Awich Kodingo ECDE were led out of their school by teachers as the choking smoke from tear gas canisters became unbearable.
