Churchill and his management have come under criticisms of late as more and more comedians reveal they have battled depression.
Former Churchill Show comedienne Zainabu Zeddy said the show’s comedians have been frustrated by the creative director Victor Ber, who is Teacher Wanjiku’s husband.
In the long post shared on Instagram, Zeddy accused Ber of depressing comedians who go to the auditions with negative feedback.
“Here is the guy behind the artistes’ woes @VictorBer24, creative director at Churchill Show. ‘Depression maker’. If you have been to Churchill Show auditions, you know this guy. He will criticise you with his tough words,” wrote Zeddy in part.
Comedian George Maina Njoroge alias Njoro The Comedian has however defended Churchill and his management from claims they are pushing comedians into depression.

Njoro, who battled depression and even attempted suicide thrice in 2019, said Churchill doesn’t cause comedians to suffer depression. He insisted that comedians themselves slip into depression because of life choices they make.
“People blame him [Churchill] for nothing. Once you get a platform it is up to you to grow your brand. Depression hailetwi na Churchill, ni wewe, maisha ni yako, the life you lead and decisions you make. In my case taking alcohol. Pesa ziko mingi inje sio pale kwa show,” said Njoro during an interview with Massawe Japanni on Radio Jambo.
