Ngesh and her Spider Clan crew have been hit by a copyright claim that saw YouTube pull down their song from it’s platform.
A copyright claim refers to either a copyright removal request or a Content ID claim.
A YouTube copyright claim does not adversely affect a channel. The rights holder can claim the revenue on the video if their content was used.
The copyright holder can also place ads on the video to generate that revenue for them, meaning that any advertising revenue will go to the initial creator and not the person who infringed on the copyright.
The right holder can restrict the video in some countries or regions or even block their content.
A copyright claim by James Ndungu saw Ngesh and Spider Clan’s latest song ‘Dera’ pulled down from YouTube.
Ngesh and Spider Clan released ‘Dera’ on June 20, 2023.
‘Dera’ is a dirty song filled with vulgar language and unrefined sexual connotation.
