Football star Neymar has eulogized popular influencer Luana Andrade after she died of cardiac arrest during liposuction surgery.
The 29-year-old influencer tragically died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, while undergoing liposuction surgery at a hospital in Sao Paulo.
She underwent the cosmetic procedure which was performed by a private doctor and anesthetist who was hired by her family, São Luiz Hospital said in a statement.
The model suffered from four cardiac arrests after complications arose during the procedure she underwent to enhance her looks.
Andrade’s heart stopped approximately two and a half hours into the surgery.
Doctors stopped the fat removal procedure and tried to revive her. She was transferred to the intensive care unit.
The medical investigation revealed that the influencer suffered from a pulmonary embolism, which was associated with a thrombosis.
“The surgery was interrupted and the patient underwent tests that revealed massive thrombosis. She was transferred to the ICU where she underwent medication and hemodynamic treatment,” the hospital said in a statement said.
Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty, is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of excess fat from specific areas of the body.
The procedure is typically used to contour the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks and other areas where diet and exercise alone have not been successful.

Following Luana Andrade’s death from botch liposuction surgery, many people including her boyfriend Joao Hadad and football star Neymar paid touching tributes to her.
“I am torn apart and living my biggest nightmare. A part of me left. We built a beautiful story and lived our dreams intensely. In addition to being a girlfriend, you are and will always be a partner beyond life, my love. … You are my light, princess. I ask that you continue to watch over me and all of us from above. I will always love you, from now until eternity!” The influencer’s boyfriend Joao Hadad wrote on Instagram.
Neymar also eulogized the influencer.
“Sad day with two very bad news. First, it was the attack that Bru’s (Bruna Bincardi’s) parents suffered, but thank God everyone is fine! Secondly, the death of a friend. My condolences to the whole family, may God receive Luana with open arms.” he wrote in Portuguese.
