Naiboi: MCSK should pay our money ASAP, MCSK we need our money like now!

Most if not all Kenyan artistes are not impressed by the sum of money that was sent out to them recently that was meant out to be their royalty pay.

Mainstream artistes like Gidi Gidi, King Kaka, Timmy Tdat, Kayvo Kforce, Khaligraph Jones took to social media to express how disappointed and disgruntled they were by the little money MCSK(Music Copyright Society of Kenya) paid them recently as their well deserved royalties.

Most artistes received 2,530 Kenyan Shillings including Khaligraph Jones who has since declared that he doesn’t want MCSK to collect royalties on his behalf, he gave his fans the go ahead to pirate his music.

“MCSK Siku Moja Tutakuja Kuwavuruga uko Mbaya Sana, Msijaribu kunitumia izi peanuts tena, Infact I have given Authorization for my Music to be pirated, Don’t collect money on my Behalf anymore, Nisiskie mmeshika mtu akicheza Wimbo zangu kwa street, msinitumie izo peanuts zenu tena, The OG shall be respected #mrinternational” Khaligraph Jones wrote on his social media account.

The latest artiste who came out openly to call out the government body is Naiboi who told MCSK bluntly that the Kenyan musicians needs their money like now[sic].

Naiboi is not convince that MCSK was only able to collect 2,530 Kenyan shillings(USD 24.51) worth of royalties for most artistes including him for a span of five years and he still insist that the copyright collection society for Kenya should pay artistes even after they distributed their royalties worth 80 million Kenyan Shillings.

“So MCSK wametutumia pesa, thao mbili, so tano na thirty bob[2,530] ya kutoa. After all these years manze, yaani hiyo ndio pesa msanii analipwa, msanii anawork hard, we do a audio, we do a video, we promote it na unalipwa, two thousand, five hundred and thirty Shillings. The fans are being harassed there wakicheza mziki yako, ma clubs zinafungwa, maDJ wanaharasiwa, then msanii analipwa two thousand five hundred and this is after five years coz the last money I got ilikuwa after five years na after nilizusha mimi nilipwe that’s when we got our money. And then they say, you know what; “tulikuwa na issues, so we froze the account, so hii ndio pesa tumepata after license”. Now am asking, asking an intelligent question, ile time account ilikuwa inafriziwa, ilikuwa na pesa, where is that money since now you are back in operation. MCSK should pay us our money ASAP,? we work so hard manze, shout out to all the Kenyan artistes putting in work, MCSK we need our money like now! MCSK, MCSK, raundi hii tunasondeka!” Naiboi was heard on a video he shared on his Instagram.
