Nadia Mukami recently opened a nail bar and beauty parlour which is located on Koinange street in the Nairobi CBD area.
The singer’s ‘Nadia Nail Bar & Beauty Parlor’ was met with a strong allegation that it was funded by a sponsor moments after it opened its doors to clients.
Reports on social media indicated that Nadia is only a proxy owner of nail bar while the an unidentified sponsor is the real owner.
There has been a trend of top celebrities paid to be used as proxies to publicize business ventures of shadowy investors in disguise as their own.
A case example is dancehall singer KRG the Don who claimed to own Casa Vera night club which is actually owned by a former journalist.
However, for Nadia’s case she strongly denied reports that she is proxy over and that a sponsor paid for the nail bar.
“People will always criticize me in a bad way, some will claim I have been sponsored but only my team and those close to me understand the struggle I went through to launch this parlor. The sleepless nights, sometimes the lack of funds and all that,” Nadia said.
She further explained how she made lots of money from corporate gigs which she used to fund her business venture.
“For those who follow what I do, they see me doing shows, the other day I did one with Safaricom and was paid handsomely, I have been working with EABL for the longest time. I mean why would someone think I can’t afford to start such a business?” Nadia said.
“This is a 100% Nadia Mukami’s project which if I am, to be honest, it cost me over $10,000 dollars (Sh1.2 million) that is from renovating the space to doing interiors such as gypsums – which were weirdly expensive – to every other set up that has the premises appear as it is,” she added.
