Nadia Mukami went on record to say that 2020 was her best year in her music career so far, and by far.
The ‘Wangu’ hitmaker and Maseno University alumna opened up on an interview with Mwende Macharia about how lucky, privileged and deserving she truly is to have finally made her first million last year, by the tender age of 23 years old.
Nadia Mukami confessed that last year saw her accomplished a lot of things in her music industry that she thought she wouldn’t have if not for her hard work, dedication, and consistency in the music industry.
The singer who has since managed to buy two cars thanks to her music career and endorsements wants to take the Kenyan music industry to the next level and that’s why she usually strive to make sure she releases songs that will forever be timeless and relatable for years, and hopefully become a classic in the long run.
“If you get an opportunity and find people who believe in you, don’t ruin it. There are a lot of people who are wishing for the same chance that you have.
One of the biggest dreams that I have is breaking barriers. Kenyan music hasn’t gotten its due respect.
I am trying my best to go to the next level… I’ve always wanted to live my dream – to hear people sing along to my songs when I perform.
I feel good, humbled, and thank God because fans have embraced my music- that’s favor,” said the MTV MAMA nominee singer.
Nadia Mukami has been able to achieve quite a lot in the music industry despite her having joined the industry a few years ago.
She’s young, versatile, consistent, and puts in real work in her craft and music.

Nadia Mukami: some of us didn’t inherit anything
Nadia Mukami also released her debut EP last year and landed herself some rather lucrative endorsement deals that have helped her stay above water last year despite the COVID-19 pandemic rendering a lot of income-generating activities useless.
Mukami who bought a car for her parents just to appreciate her is grateful to have surrounded herself with the best team who wants nothing but the best for her and her music career.
She reiterated the importance of having the right team to believe in you at the end of the day because when it’s all said and done, music is a business like any other business.
“I can say 2020 was the best year of my career. I made my first million when I was 23, which is last year! It was one of the best years of my life.
It was a dream come true for me. I got my first endorsement deals from corporates.
The same year I released my EP, we are now inching to 10 million streams… I have my own team who engage in campaigns for YouTube, Twitter, and Boomplay.
We really push, it’s not like I just took over as a top artist, no. The keyword is, hard work is really paying off,” she opened up even futher.
Nadia Mukami has one of the most loyal fan bases in the country today, especially on social media.
Each and every other time she releases new music, most often than not, she always gets to trend on social media, even at the number one spot on Twitter sometimes.
