Mwanaisha Chidzuga was among over 100 employees who were retrenched by Mediamax Network Limited after being deemed redundant by the media house.
Chidzuga joined K24 in November 2015 three months after she was laid off at KTN where she was working. She was among former Standard Media Group employees who were laid off when the media company retrenched redundant workers.
On Thursday October 31st 2019, it was a déjà vu moment for Chidzuga when she took to social media to bid her fans goodbye after she was retrenched by K24.
“Hi Good people I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support @k24tv #K24Wikendi but again God has other bigger plans for me away from K24tv.Its been a great experience for me working with a great team of journalists and the shows I have hosted have been memorable.But now I have to focus on my passion #Eventsandcatering #AryannasSwahiliCuisine but very soon will meet again #ScreenNextToYou .Thank you and be blessed.Inshallah,” wrote Mwanaisha Chidzuga.
However Chidzuga is not the type that cries over split milk, the celebrated journalist said her work at K24 was a part time job for her.
“For me, K24 TV was part-time. I am a full-time caterer and I own three restaurants. K24 was a hobby and I used to work like 12 hours the whole month. That was a side hustle, I have my main hustle and that is where my focus is. I am opening a new restaurant soon before the end of the year,” said Chidzuga.
Chidzuga also took to social media and shared photos of her husband Danson Mungatana and her having a good time together after her sack from K24.
