Renowned Bongo-flava artiste Zuchu has provided a dose of motivation for aspiring musicians, asserting that pursuing a music career can be financially rewarding.
The talented artist from Tanzania emphasized the importance of perseverance in the music industry, encouraging newcomers not to give up on their dreams.
“Let’s not lie to each other, music pays…” Zuchu confidently stated, highlighting her belief in the lucrative potential of the music business.
The singer went on to share insights regarding her earnings, revealing that she doesn’t perform for less than Tsh20 million, which translates to over Ksh960,000.
In a candid moment, she recalled that the lowest payment she’s received was Tsh15 million, roughly equivalent to Ksh720,000.
“This year, the show that I have done for the minimum amount, I was paid Tsh15M, and the boss was requested so much that he said to help our brothers,” Zuchu elaborated, showcasing the financial viability of live performances for successful artists.
However, Zuchu’s journey has not been entirely smooth; earlier this year, she faced a six-month performance ban in Zanzibar from the Zanzibar Arts, Census, Film and Culture Council (BASSFU).
The council claimed that her performances did not align with the traditions and customs of the region, leading to significant scrutiny.
In light of the controversy, Zuchu took to Instagram to address the backlash. She expressed remorse for any hurt caused by her actions.
“I would like to use this opportunity to apologize for the words I used in the song that caused a stir at the Full Moon Party Kendwa Beach Zanzibar festival recently. I know that those words have brought confusion to many of you and brought a negative meaning to the community and my fans,” she said.
By sharing her experiences and offering advice, Zuchu continues to inspire a new generation of artistes while navigating the complexities of a rapidly evolving music scene.
