11 years after his death, Musa Juma’s legacy still goes strong

It’s been 11 years since the death of one of the legendary musicians of the 21st century, Musa Juma Mumbo popularly known as Musa Juma.

Musa Juma is a rumba and Benga legend according to many even before he passed away on 15th March 2011 in Mombasa after suffering an illness that eventually claimed his life.

Today is the exact day that he passed away and still, his music continues to resonate with his fans and people from all walks of life.

The singer who was well-traveled having traveled to many countries through his music career made an impact in the music industry across all genres that will forever be iconic and legendary in the Kenyan and African music scene.

Prior to his untimely death which was caused by pneumonia, Musa Juma and his band had traveled all the way to the US to perform. Some fans who were privileged to see him perform live always say that he was known for putting up a performance like no other, plus he used to perform live with his band, you could never expect playbacks when you went to see Muja Juma perform live.

Musa Juma has one of the most impressive music catalogs yet. Almost all his records were hit records if not all of them.

Under his belt of hit timeless records, Musa Juma released ‘Siaya ka Baba’, ‘Nyoremo, ‘’Aggrey’, ‘Bi Buta’, ‘Rikni Nyombo’, ‘Betty’, ‘Pacheko’, ‘Hera Mudho’, ‘Andrew’, ‘Omwaga’, ‘Safari’, ‘Saida’, ‘Lake Victoria’, ‘Osiepe Mabeyo’, ‘Alex Waguti’, ‘Freddy’, ‘Clarkson’, ‘Gidali’, ‘Oyoo Daktari’, ‘Sudan’, ‘Christina’, ‘Auma’, ‘Rapar Owino’, ‘Ratego Baba’, ‘Fiancé’, and the list goes on and on.

Musa Juma has influenced a lot of people over the years, some of the people he’s influenced are people like Akothee and John Junior Adang who used to be a vocalist in his Limpopo Band that helped shape the music world at least in Kenya.

Today might be the day that he left this earth for an even more beautiful place beyond our understanding, but he didn’t leave us without anything.

Through his hit records, he will forever live vicariously through them, and for that, we are grateful, even after 11 years of his death.
