For years, they were the ‘First Couple’ of Kenyan YouTube, but Mungai Eve has finally had enough of being defined by her past.
In a raw and candid interview on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the digital creator and entrepreneur lashed out at the “obsession” Kenyans have with her former relationship with Director Trevor.
Despite the pair going their separate ways in early 2024, Eve says the constant comparisons have become a shadow that threatens to eclipse her professional growth.
“I am a person as a whole. You don’t have to keep saying, ‘Mungai Eve, she’s your ex-boyfriend’… What’s the obsession?” Eve declared.
While the public has been busy speculating about her romantic life, Eve revealed she has been quietly building a business empire away from the camera lens.
She explained that her recent absence from the “vlogging” style that made her famous was a strategic move to focus on high-value ventures.

“I’ve been focusing on private ventures, real estate projects, and brand collaborations,” she said, noting that after five years in the spotlight, she felt the need to “step back and strategize.”
Eve and Director Trevor were once inseparable, building a media house that dominated the Kenyan online space.
However, since the professional and romantic split, Eve has worked hard to rebrand herself on TikTok and Instagram. She emphasized that while their collaboration was successful, it was merely a chapter, not the whole book.
“People need to understand that I am growing, and just because I was in a relationship in the past doesn’t define who I am today,” she added.
Addressing the elephant in the room—her current relationship status—Eve made it clear that the gates to her private life are now firmly closed.

She urged fans to stop jumping to conclusions every time she is spotted with a male colleague or friend.
“Personal growth matters more than public speculation,” she stated, calling for fans to be kind and respect her need for privacy as she navigates her late twenties as a solo entrepreneur.
