2 mins read

Kenyan singer-songwriter Mumala Maloba returns with a brand new EP dubbed ‘Equilibrium’ on the funky Atwal Music production outfit. Mumala unveils balance on this experimental 5-song set filled with social commentary and her debut project after a short hiatus on the scene.

A couple of months back, Mumala made a clear statement that she’s here to stay in the music industry with her majestic, timeless record dubbed ‘Ride Along’ that has since become one of her best releases yet.

On her debut project, Mumala is without a shadow of doubt spearheading the new wave of artistes delving in experimental sounds. There’s no denying that Mumala will take the Kenyan music to the next level since her music is diverse, timeless, not age-biased and on top of all that, she’s a prolific artiste which can’t be said for most artistes already established in the music industry.

“I am so excited because my sound is really different on this EP,” she explains. “The EP  is inspired by the four cornerstones of my life as of now and finding that equilibrium or balance.”

There is nothing static about Mumala’s infectious energy, which runs through the vibey EP from the first single to the last one. Each single is endlessly re-playable and addictive.

She’s developed her talents further on the new tunes, realizing at the end of each play how much we had missed her honeyed voice. She goes on to take classic funky vibes and with Atwal Music giving the tunes that electro-pop sheen, the music remains grounded in Mumala’s earnest conviction authentically.

Here’s the official tracklist of Mumala’s debut 5 tracks EP dubbed ‘Equilibrium’

1. So Good
2. Another
3. Gangsta Luv
4. Feelings
5. X

The project doesn’t have any features at all, it’s all Mumala and Mumala alone on this project and trust me, it’s worth your while to have a listen to this project, I promise you that you will have it on repeat each and every day for the rest of the year.
