David Oyando, widely known as Mulamwah, has opened up about the controversial statement he made disowning his daughter, Keilah, and his ex-girlfriend Caroline Muthoni aka Carol Sonnie.
In a candid video shared on Ruth K’s YouTube channel, the 31-year-old comedian revealed that the dramatic decision stemmed from intense pressures in his life following their public separation.
According to Mulamwah, the situation escalated as social media discussions intensified after he and Caroline announced their split.
“I started to get angry, I began to respond in ways I shouldn’t have,” he said.
The comedian expressed gratitude for his restraint, noting that despite the overwhelming situation, he was able to avoid posting inflammatory content that could have negatively impacted others.
He explained that his public disowning was an attempt to distance himself from the narrative surrounding their breakup and to prevent any further association with Caroline’s comments in interviews or social media posts.
“When I posted that, I wanted to stay aside from this story so that if you (Carol) go to another interview and talk about your child, I won’t be put in the mix,” Mulamwah stated.
Despite his decision, the aftermath proved challenging for both him and Caroline as they faced significant backlash online regarding their daughter.
Mulamwah reflected on the emotional toll, saying, “The pressure was on. It was a lot of pressure, really bad.”
Ultimately, Mulamwah emphasized that the decision to make such a statement was for his own mental well-being.
“I had to choose to stay alive,” he admitted, revealing that he feared the situation could lead him down a darker path. “Those were my thoughts,” he concluded, underscoring the gravity of his emotional state at that time.
In April 2022, Mulamwah shocked many when he publicly declared that Keilah was not his child, a statement rooted in the turmoil and drama that surrounded his separation from Caroline.
This admission came on the heels of ongoing social media disputes, adding further complexity to their co-parenting journey.
Mulamwah’s recent revelations highlight the pressures that come with public relationships and the toll that social media can take on personal lives.
Through his candid sharing, he aims to shed light on the challenges of navigating such turmoil while maintaining one’s mental health.
